Unreal Engine 3 is a reality on Android

nVidia, historic video card manufacturer and chipset, is doing for some time to talk about themselves for a product outside of the field in which we are used to locate it. The company, in fact, after a first "experiment" could not objectively, is back with new Tegra processor 2.
We have already mentioned, being the platform that equips the Compal prototype based on Android 2.0, but what is surprising, beyond the characteristics of paper, are the real potential of the CPU nVidia. No talking, in fact, only a very good job with regard to consumption and die size, but the performance that the Tegra 250 can give you.
In addition to encoding / decoding of HD streams, management of several audio formats, support for up to 12 megapixel CCD sensor, the Tegra will interface perfectly with the Open GL libraries, with their natural evolution ES 2.0, promises to excite in the also to the 3D mobile platforms.
Epic Games, in collaboration with the Nvidia labs, having brought their own Unreal Engine 3 on iPhone and iPod is preparing to land on Android for the moment the news remains fragmentary, but the video was shot at the CES 2010 allows you to appreciate the "muscles" that hides Tegra, thanks to the heart of dual-ARM Cortex-A9, you can enjoy on mobile platforms in the multi-texturing, lighting effects in real time, a more realistic physics and, consequently, a graphic breathtaking.
The chip supports a number of optimizations for power consumption that provide a range of highly respected, both by scaling the clock as the voltage, according to allegations made by nVidia, should be insured up to 140 hours of audio playback and 16 hours HD video. These estimates are, as always, be taken with care since they are in very close relation to the optimization work to be done for all other components, radio equipment in the first place.
In a not too distant future we might see the HDMI port on our Android, and thus enjoy showing them videos shot directly on high-definition television. But beyond the simple projection, the fact that Tegra2 supports hardware decoding VC1 format opens up new hopes for the cameras and the software that accompanies the terminal Android, providing better results for quality and compression.
